Join NowFeel w/o Fixating to Let It Go
***READ FIRST**
If you are prone to panic attacks, experience PTSD of any type, it is a good idea to speak with your mental healthcare provider before doing this session on your own, or ask if you can do it with them. Your health and safety are the number one priority here, and everyone in this subscription is on their own personal journey. I have a longer introduction on this session, and that is intentional. I want you to be clear on what we will be doing, and I want you to have time to decide to not move forward with this particular session if in the introduction you start to feel at all unsafe or uneasy. **The practice starts at minute 4:40, but do not jump to this unless you have done this full video once already.
This is stepping into a bit deeper work as we further explore the idea of feeling without fixating. We can often get stuck in a loop of replaying every detail of an argument, every detail of a day where we experienced trauma, searching for how we could have changed things. This is natural, but not helpful in my experience. We cannot change the past in this way, but we can change how our bodies now experience this “memory”.
The focus of this session is on letting go of an experience or feeling that no longer serves your highest good. This could be as simple as anger from a disagreement with a boss, spouse or friend. Even general anger or sadness you're not even sure why. It could be grief from losing someone or something you loved (sidenote: letting go of grief is not the same as letting go of the thing or person). It can be as deep as a trauma from your past. The key is to let your body and subconscious guide you to what it feels ready to release.
In the entire session your focus should remain on your physical feelings, not the details of the experience or feeling. We are not allowing ourselves to relive anything, we are searching our bodies for where that feeling/memory/experience is being held and focusing only on that spot and sensation.
With all of this said, be sure that you are in a space that you are comfortable and private so you can really focus for the full 20 minutes.
