What you need:
A comfortable supportive spot to lay down or lay back. Ideal is a bed with pillows, or floor with pillows supporting your head and back (a pillow under the back of your knees is a great way to support your back when laying down). If you do not have these things, you can lay on the floor with no pillows or in a comfortable supportive chair. The idea is that you want a space where you can feel safe and comfortable to relax your body and mind and feel supported as you do so.
Before You Begin:
Take a moment as you are preparing your space to begin to identify what energy or emotion you may feel needs to be softened. Read below to understand more what this session is about and what type of release this is intended for.
What this routine is for:
This is a way to teach your body it is ok and safe to relax. To show your body what it can feel like to not brace itself all day long.
When we are under constant stress our bodies are bracing, our muscles tighten in anticipation of danger. This can be real physical danger of course, but again feelings of stress can be good when you are in actual physical danger (this routine is not for this scenario). This routine is for the bracing your body does when you are not in an actual life threatening situation.
If you are experiencing financial stress, tension in a relationship at home or at work or even tension with your own self over how you handled a situation or feel you’re not where you wish you would be- all of these can cause your physical body to tense and brace all day long and it does not actually benefit you.
This constant constriction of muscles over time can actually cause significant damage. It restricts the flow of blood and oxygen throughout your body, restricts nerve function, and can lead to not just pain but actual physical damage and disease.
