Somatic Senses: Class 3 Touch

Your sense of touch is possibly the biggest sense you have. Your entire body is covered in nerve endings, all sending information to your nervous system, all the time. We all are guilty of tuning out aches and pains, or even ignore spots that may go numb, simply because we just don’t have the time to deal with it, or we are scared of what it could mean, and just don’t want to know. Well, this is to our detriment. It has been well established that early diagnostics is key to treatment of disease, and even more, prevention all together would be best (obviously). So how can we help ourselves?

Tune in! Open the mind body connection, pay attention to what your body is telling you, and listen to what it says. When this connection is open and trusted, your intuition becomes even more powerful. You will learn how to discern what is anxiety creeping in and what is your intuition telling you something needs your attention.

This is all intimidating, and everyone wonders, where do I start? You start here, at the basics. With this small course, you are learning simple exercises at the most basic level to reintroduce yourself to all of your senses.

In today’s class on touch, we use a very simple technique to tune in to our nerve endings in a gentle way. Our sense of touch can really be one that we guard if we have had physical trauma in life. Go slow, trust yourself and be patient. This is just the first step in building trust with your sense of touch, so do not feel the need to force anything, or rush through. As you allow things to come to the surface, acknowledge them and let them go, you will be building trust with your body, and it will begin to open up more, allowing you to release what no longer benefits you.
