IMPORTANT TO READ FIRST
Guilt is so complex and personal, but I still wanted to address it in a more generalized session in hopes of giving people a starting point to process, if not fully release it.
The 2 main “flavors” of guilt that I will be referring to are guilt that comes from within yourself, and guilt that has been pushed onto you.
Guilt from within: Again, there are many levels of this and many degrees of what you can feel guilty for. In offering this session, I am not condoning any form of bad behavior, or saying you can move on with no consequences. That being said, we are all human and we all make mistakes. If you have made amends but are still carrying guilt, this routine can help you release from it.
Guilt from the outside: This is very common in families, think the parent that guilts their child for not becoming a doctor, or not fulfilling whatever demand the parent was putting on them. This is a guilt that is very real, that we are reminded of constantly by whoever has put it on us.
The difference in these two forms, is that outside guilt was never ours to carry in the first place and actually can be tricker to release because of this.
The last bit I want to point out, is that guilt has a pretty clear track it follows. We feel guilty, which leads to embarrassment or shame where we can close in on ourselves, and then that can lead to depression, or depressive feelings. I point this out simply as something to be aware of in your journey.
So, if you are holding guilt, let’s identify it in your body and allow it space to do what it needs to do, and then move it on out.
